trifermed awards

As socially responsible and acting according to a sound ethical framework, trifermed has an obligation to act for the benefit of society by performing activities that directly advance social goals. Social responsibility is a duty every individual has to perform in order to maintain a balance between the economy and its ecosystems.

The trifermed awards ceremony takes place in Barcelona, hosting more than 300 guests representing the local health ecosystem.

The founder

Sergi Trilla, M.D., M.B.A., is the founder of the trifermed awards and currently serves as the Chief Business Officer at Veru, a biopharmaceutical company at the forefront of novel treatments for ARDS-related illnesses and various cancers. With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, Dr. Trilla plays a pivotal role in shaping corporate strategy and forging impactful partnerships, both at Veru and in the broader healthcare ecosystem. Before his current role, Dr. Trilla founded trifermed in 2002, a business service provider specializing in corporate strategy and business development in health. Under his leadership, trifermed has successfully forged over 180 partnerships in both human and animal health sectors. Although he has transitioned to Founder & Chairman, Dr. Trilla continues to offer strategic counsel. In addition to his corporate roles, Dr. Trilla serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Forsyth Institute in Cambridge, MA, and is an Ambassador for the Children's Oncology Foundation. His academic and philanthropic work focuses on translational medicine, bridging the gap between innovation and patient care.

Founded in 2015, the trifermed awards are a testament to Dr. Trilla's commitment to recognizing individuals and organizations that are driven by passion and emotion to improve healthcare quality and societal well-being. The awards celebrate those who share the common goal of creating a better world through healthcare innovation.

The panel

In order to name the winners for the trifermed awards, trifermed has selected a group of panellists representing top leaders from both public and private sectors in the local healthcare region. It is, in part, thanks to that panel that the trifermed awards immediately won recognition.

The creation of the trifermed awards statuette

Designed by Nilza Silva, a Brazilian artist and mother of one of our co-workers, Clara, the Eira represents solidarity of action expressed through collaboration and mutual understanding. In Nilza's words, Eira expresses ‘solidarity not only as activities of the winners of the awards, but also as trifermed’s initiative in creating the trifermed awards.' The statuette features two human forms with significantly different features, holding each other’s hands and touching heads, as homage to 'the acceptance of differences, and a union of people working together to find solutions to problems they are facing in today’s world.'

trifermed awards story

Back in 2005 trifermed began to celebrate its own company anniversary by inviting a few friends to a summer cocktail party. A few years later, the event became well-known locally as the trifermed social evening, which, by the 10th anniversary of the company, hosted more than two hundred guests. In 2015 trifermed decided to go further, taking advantage of the amazing audience and our ethos of social responsibility. The trifermed awards for social impact in healthcare celebrated its first edition very successfully opening the door to a great opportunity to recognise those that work to change the World by improving healthcare.

In 2018, due to the creation of the trifermed awards statuette, we invited all the winners from the past editions of the event to be awarded with their own statuette. We feel really proud of that moment. Thanks to the past editions, the trifermed awards have consolidated their social impact and have come to stay with us for a long time to come. We would like to thank all the attendees, winners and panellists for making this possible.
